Amazon’s In-Home Delivery: Exciting or Eerie?

Last week Amazon announced their latest move – in-home delivery.

Yes, it is as...interesting as it sounds.

The new delivery method forgoes having to sign for packages, have a clumsy mailman toss a package over a fence or worse yet – have the package stolen by what NBC News referred to as “porch pirates,” or folks who steal packages right off the doorsteps of the intended recipient.

How does it work?
Amazon Prime members will first purchase a $250 Amazon Key In-Home Kit. We know, $250 for a lock that isn't broken and doesn't need fixing may seem like a bit much, but stay with us. The kit includes Amazon's new Cloud Cam and a compatible smart lock. From there, Amazon couriers will deliver packages. The courier will confirm they are at the right address, and when the smart lock is activated, the camera will begin recording. Customers will be able to literally watch their dog food, new earrings and groceries be delivered directly inside their home.

Amazon Key is being met with mixed reviews. While some see the convenience in having a package delivered right inside their living rooms while at work or halfway around the world, others see the new technology as unsettling and invasive.

Amazon says they see the new technology as one that can be used for letting in family and friends, or even the kids, without having to worry about a physical key.

But for now, it’ll be used to let in your packages.

What do you think, MySavings? Is Amazon Key exciting or eerie?
