Moving soon?  I just recently moved and it’s a good thing it’s an exciting time because if we just focused on all of the work involved, I’m not sure I would have survived.  Needless to say, I’m frugal in all things I do, so as soon as I knew we were moving, I started researching on potential ways to save and I want to share what I discovered with you.

When you start looking into savings on moving, you repeatedly see folks talk about getting the USPS mover coupons when they change their address.  And it did appear to have some really awesome savings, but unfortunately this program ended at the beginning of 2025.  I spent far too much time looking for it, so I wanted to just call that one out now and save you the time.  

While it was a great source for coupons, we still have ways to save on what you need to get you to the new place AND on the things you’ll need for the new place. Read on to discover savings!

Moving and Storage Coupons

• If you’re using U-Haul, you can get one month of FREE Storage at participating locations when you rent a truck or trailer one way. Despite so much planning, storage was the one thing we didn’t know we were going to need, so take note of this one.
   
• Penske can help you move! Enter the promo code FALL25 to save 10% or more on your one-way truck rental reservation made now through September 30, 2025. (They have new codes monthly, so if you’re not quite ready, keep a watch on their page.)

Service Coupons

• You’re going to want that internet in ASAP. Starlink has a new customer deal for you get a $49 per month Residential Lite service for your first year. (Regularly $80 per month.)
   
• Hughesnet is offering a $100 Prepaid Mastercard Rebate with a new internet service sign up now.
   
• DISH has an offer where you can receive up to $200 in gift cards when you bundle DISH TV & qualifying Satellite Internet. They also have a 3 Free Months promotion happening.
   
• Try a Streaming Package from DIRECTV for just $49.99 for your first month. No annual contract. Cancel anytime. You can also get 5 days for free, but maybe wait to do that until you can sit down and truly enjoy it. 
   
• Save $15 per month on 1 GIG AT&T Fiber AND get a $150 in reward card when you sign up online.

Other Moving Tips and Deals

• If you’re a member of AAA, AARP, USAA, or other programs, look for savings there! They often lock in discounted rates for their members. Even your Costco membership will gain you discounts with the sources they partner with.
• Military and students often get special deals too, so take advantage of those if you qualify.
• When it comes to moving trucks and storage, you should price smaller local companies. Sometimes they have the ability to be more competitive. Be sure to read reviews though.
• Watch your mailbox once you arrive at home. Local businesses often like to welcome you to the neighborhood with discounts. Look for coupons for nearby restaurants, dry cleaners, stores, cleaning services, and more!
