Ask Angie: Coupon Limits and Fine Print

Reading the fine print on coupons can be very confusing. Let's clear up some of this confusion with these simple explanations of the coupons limits and fine print.
Limit 1 Coupon Per Transaction- This term means the coupon limits us to only using one coupon in a transaction. It does not matter how may items you are purchasing. If the coupon says "Limit 1 coupon per transaction" you can only use one.

Limit of 4 Like Coupons in same shopping trip- We usually see this term on coupons from Proctor & Gamble. When a coupon a coupon says "Limit 4 like coupons in the same shopping trip" means you are limited you to using only 4 of the same coupons per transaction.

Limit one coupon per specified item(s) purchased- "Limit one coupon per purchase” simply means for every item you purchase, you can use one coupon for that item. Since this type of coupon does not have a limit, you can use five coupons if you are purchasing five products! Some stores may limit the usage of this type of coupon, so check with your store before stocking up on a good deal!

Limit two coupons per transaction/ household per day - This term is often found on coupons printed from a specific brand's website. When a coupon says "Limit two coupons per transaction/ household per day", that means you can only use two coupons per transaction or day. We usually see this term when the coupon has a high-value or it's a rare coupon.

Expiration Date- Be sure to use your coupons before they expiration date. Using a coupon after the specified date counts as coupon fraud. Don't cut off the date and hope the cashier doesn't catch it. Stores will not be reimbursed for expired coupons and it gives them a valid reason to change their coupon policy, so follow the rules! :)

Following coupon limits and the fine print is the law of the couponing world. We must abide and follow these limitations to successfully use coupons.
